This City Is His
Let me tell you the story of a Scouser
An Orrell Park lad, on the box more and more
At times in the company of Sir Stephen
On the road to win awards galore
But it’s not about trophies for this man
It’s not them that he seeks nor the fame
It’s about being himself, being true to himself
Never conforming to the ‘rules’ of the game
He’s special you know, Spezial I should say
Rubbing shoulders with the best of the best
Now it’s James’ time for centre stage
Sure to help and give a leg up to the rest
Shirt and tie wouldn’t be his style
More of a trackie and 110 man
Leave the fine wine for the boarding school boys
He’ll have a tinnie with his scran
It was at Nando’s that he met his idol
And passed on his email address
“Let us know when you’re on the tele – we’ll watch”
The Graham’s knew long before the press
He’ll always stay true, stay grounded
Never lose the Liverpudlian that’s inside
Like writing on a Manc’s dressing room door
The man’s the epitome of pure liver bird pride
