It’s Only Ray Parlour

The Romford Pelé – what more can I say?
I’m sure he’d have taken just that all day
And wouldn’t have had it any other way
But there’s a lot more to this true gent, our Ray

A real Arsenal man
Who makes time for each and every fan
Happy to relive stories of the past, hopes for the future
Of doubles and hat-tricks, potential Prem champs – a proper Gooner

Feeling a little ropey going through pre-game tactics
From Tuesday Club to beers with Brazil and Cobra Bomb antics
He’s one of us – a man of the people
An Invincible yet sees the postie as his equal

A return to Rush Green Social Club – FA Cup won
Where they backed you to score at 25/1
The epitome of the local lad
Then stumble back to see the proudest Mum and Dad

Now promoting the finest of English cuisine
At the Highbury Cafe, hygiene rating of 5 – the gaff’s pristine
Rewinding back to the number 23 Parlour days and pressing pause
Classic Football Shirts, adidas and Arsenal – a round of applause
